What is Skin Fight?

Skin Fight is an annual event that lasts throughout the month of June, where participants will break off into two opposing teams. Participants can earn points for their team by submitting “attacks” (fan-skins) of someone’s original character/persona from the other team!
At the end of June, the team with the most points accumulated will claim victory!
This event is all meant in good fun, so please be kind, enjoy yourselves, and spread the love!

The Notion page will be publicized on June 01st, 09:00 AM EDT to showcase rosters, FAQs, Google Forms, and all the information! This is to prevent mass pre-making of attacks which is not allowed.
The purpose of this carrd is just to be able to keep some information public year-round!

Rules

[1] You must have a persona or an OC (original character) to be able to participate in this event! If you don't, your sign-up application will be void.
[2] You must submit your sign-up application and attacks (fan-skins) through the designated Google Forms found on the Notion page. Otherwise, they will be voided.
[3] You may only submit attacks on those participating in Skin Fight. If they are not in the participation list, your attack will be void.
[4] You may not enter the same skin twice. However, you can make two fan-skins for the same character, as long as they are made from scratch each time.
[5] If you are caught stealing another participants skin or fan-skin, you will be removed from the event immediately.
[6] When you make a fan-skin, you must create it from scratch. You are not allowed to use the original as a base. If you barely deviate from the original, you will receive a warning. If the behavior continues, you will be removed from the event.
[7] Keep all skins PG-13. NSFW is not allowed whatsoever.
[8] You are allowed to gender-bend and change characters' outfits, only if it is permitted by the owner. If you are unsure, do not gender-bend/change that character's outfit.
[9] All fan-skins must keep the original character recognizable. This includes keeping eye, hair, and skin color the same. This includes hair length (unless gender-bent.)
[10] Pixel art is allowed as long as you fill up the whole front and/or back of the skin.
[11] Do not sign-up on group accounts.
[12] Please credit your reference in the description of your skin! Show the original creator some love
[13] Any use of genAI at any point during the event is strictly prohibited. Usage of genAI will result in you being permanently removed from the event.
[14] Pre-making attacks is not allowed as it gives an unfair advantage to the team which the participant is on.

Scoring Guide

This year, scoring is done by self-rating based on two categories: shading and color. Please keep in mind that staff are reviewing submissions; intentional misuse of the scoring system will be noticed. Just be honest with your scoring—these categories aren't to say anything is 'good' or 'bad'Guide is currently WIP! We're working to create extra examples :)

Shading

Shading is based on the complexity of your texture, is there an understanding of how light interacts with surfaces and forms? How complex is the shading palette used?Level 1: Little to no shading, pillow shading, or noise shading/auto-shading usedLevel 2: Basic shading, shows an understanding of light and shadow.Level 3: Advanced shading with more depth, showing an understanding of light's interaction with parts of the body, clothing or different types of fabric

Color

Colors are based on hues and values, is there understanding of color theory/hue-shifting, and do colors look pleasing to the eyes?Level 1: Basic understanding of color, usage of pure black/white to shade, no hue-shifting, or heavy use of similar valuesLevel 2: Good understanding of hue-shifting, or heavily filtered skinsLevel 3: Advanced understanding of hue-shifting and color values, colors are visually intriguing or cohesive

Polish

Polish can be used if you have spent extra time or effort on a piece, or if you are simply exceptionally proud of it and feel it is some of your better work. You may mark as many attacks as polished as you wish, as long as you truly feel you have gone the extra mile and are proud of it.NOTE: Staff will check for misuse if you have rated a majority of your attacks as polished.
